Good points about email marketing. We need to do all that we can to keep from making the mistakes that will hurt our efforts.

However, I have to agree with Earl on the use of free. When I use the word free in my subject line, my open rate is much higher then when I don't. I hope that this does not mean that my will will never buy. But at the present time I get a lot more opens when I use free in the title.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('910','Lonnie Minton','Good points about email marketing.
Some really great tips Andre!

I have broken some of those in the past, but really try to pay closer attention to what I am sending these days.

Sometimes it's difficult as things are changing constantly, but that's what makes this such a challenge.

And challenge is good. It keeps you constantly thinking and on your toes!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('903','Brett McEllhiney','Some really great tips Andre!\r\n\r\nI have broken some of those in the past, but really try to pay closer attention to what I am sending these days.\r\n\r\nSometimes it\'s difficult as things are changing constantly, but that\'s what makes this such a challenge.\r\n\r\nAnd challenge is good.
I agree with most of your points, but take issue with the use of Free in the subject of emails. I have been running a lot of adswaps where I am offering free items from other marketers. I use the word "Free" in my subjects and when I do, I get better open rates than when I do not.

I see a lot of people doing F.ree and other tactics, but I think they are continuing an "urban myth" about using the word free.

I wonder what your other readers have experienced?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('902','Earl Netwal','I agree with most of your points, but take issue with the use of Free in the subject of emails.
All very good points. Numbers 2 and 3 are often overlooked. It's really common sense isn't it, write an email that you would want to open and read yourself and others will most likely open it too. I also like your point about not bombarding your list with promo after promo. Build a relationship with your list and tell them about products that will help them and they will stay subscribed and open your emails.
Great post Andre
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('901','Luca Di Nicola','All very good points.
Your right, we need to make sure our emails are sent with a personal touch, and not just trying to sell something. But it's all about finding the best conversion rates for your list, and the best methods used can be different from list to list.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('900','Joel Osborne','Your right, we need to make sure our emails are sent with a personal touch, and not just trying to sell something.
Good points you have covered.
