Blogging For Seniors Revisited

Blogging is a concept that started in the late 90s. It is a wonderful tapestry of creative artistry from many different artists. You can think of it like writing an open, social book, bit by bit.

Blogging is easy, making your blog worth reading is way harder, even though not many people recognize that part.  Blogging is writing, and you should use the proper skills and tools for your language’s grammar, but it is also very different from other styles of writing.

Blogging means it is a technique to write something about ourself and about any topic related to our interest. Think of it as sharing one’s childhood memories and noticing that they are universal.

Blogging is like…confusing a metaphor for a simile.  Blogging that gets noticed and linked to is all about seeing things in a new light.

Blogging helps to position yourself and your company as the thought leader of your business. Somehow blogs can be an effective way to advertise your business.

It is a great way to bring out the information about your business as well as a great way to boost your profits.  All of the great business ideas, on and off the web help people do something.

Blogging is the best tool to get your website on top of its target market. It is not dead or dying by any means; it’s more a game of offering valuable content.

Blogging is merely a different way to build a Web site. Consider blogging as an enjoyable activity, but it can also be an exacting one.  Blogging is all about saying your opinion, so a constructive criticism is always healthy.

My friend Mike Paetzold has written an e-Book all about blogging. Titled “Blogging For Seniors“, Mike will take you through from the beginning, thinking of what to blog about to how to monetize your blog.

Don’t let the title fool you. It may be titled “Blogging For Seniors” and it is for seniors thinking of generating an extra income in retirement, there are tidbits throughout this book that can help bloggers of all ages. Check out “Blogging For Seniors” right now.

  1. Well put, Andre! To take it a step further, if blogging catches on in the seniors’ lifestyle, society will be so much richer for it…

In this media-dominated culture, the focus has shifted to the young, the pretty and the scandalous – but while they may make great eye-candy and gossip fodder, there’s really not much such people can add of value – yet.

All too frequently in the last 50 years western society has ignored seniors and all they have to offer. After all, no one has more experience in life, in love, in simple being human in a dynamic society. We ignore their experience and wisdom at our own peril…

Really – would you rather have advice from one who has 40 years of experience, or a college kid who thinks he gets it? I had all the answers in college – now looking back I realize we hadn’t even learned what the questions were yet! ;-)

Bravo to you, Mike and anyone else who can make it easier for seniors to share their wealth of experience, especially while making it easier for us to access that wisdom!

  2. Doug brings up a good point and one of the reasons this was tailored to seniors. Course my rapidly approaching senior status didn’t hurt ;) but there is so much knowledge that can be passed on and blogging is an easy way for them to do that and done right can turn a profit too.

I too, like the idea of blogging as a way to transfer knowledge and experience from one generation to the next. The idea of encouraging seniors to blog is a natural, all it takes is a bit of motivation and a good how to book, like Mike Paetzolds.

  5. A blog is a great tool for expressing your opinion Andre,

It is easy to setup, administer, and add content to. It is also very SEO friendly, although there are a few plugins that help improve that even more.

I picked up Mike’s ‘Blogging for Seniors’ a couple of weeks back and it is a great resource to have on hand even though I’m not a senior yet.

  6. Andre, Blogging is all that you say that it is. I think that two things need to be emphasized: one is that content is important and consistent effort is required for the things you mentioned to happen. Also, Blogging For Seniors is a very good starting point for anyone.
