Mike Paetzold back again for my last day of my visit here at New Breed Marketer as part of the Old Bald Guy’s Blog Tour.
This stop I am talking about WordPress and here is what has been covered so far…
So far this week we have covered a lot about using WordPress but the most important part of the equation is to understand what you are doing that is working and which things are not.
You really need to be tracking results. I use two different services to find these things out.
- Google analytics
- MyBlogLog
Google Analytics allows you to place a small piece of code on your pages and they will track and give you reports on the results. They track the people coming to your site and give you some good information on exactly where your visitors are coming from, how long they stay and if you set up goals they will even track that for you.
You can get daily visits, the keywords that were used to find you and which pages get the most visits.
The keywords that people used to find you can be very revealing and may show you topics you want to cover in more detail.
MyBlogLog is something that I use even more than Analytics. Now unlike Analytics there is a fee $25 a year per blog to get their full tracking service, It is well worth it.
There are a lot of other reasons to use MyBlogLog other than the tracking and I have blogged extensively about ways to use it to your advantage on my WordPress Made Easy blog. You can see a list of posts on MyBlogLog.
The reason I really like the tracking on MyBlogLog is that they will also show you which outgoing links are clicked.
Add in that they link to the exact search page (not just the keywords) that someone has entered your blog from and you can see exactly where you stand on that topic in the various search engines.
Knowing these topics that are getting you traffic and generating clicks of your links will allow you to go use things like Wonder Wheel to expand your information on that topic and strengthen your rankings.
Hope you have enjoyed my visit this week and stop to see me at my blogs. Next week I will be moving on to the Micro Business Specialist and will be discussing helping offline businesses with tips for those that are an offline business and those that want to help offline businesses take advantage of the internet.

Mike again thanks for the information. I know that I should be tracking my results better than I am.
This post will help push me to do better.
BTW, I am really enjoying following you on your tour.

Great post Mike.
I use MyBlogLog as well and really love it. I like looking to see what links were used to leave my site. It allows me to see if my visitors are going where I want them to.
I also really love the fact that I can see exactly what page I am on in the search results for each keyword that is used to find my site. This info is priceless.
It is a truly great tool and well worth the price.
Thanks Andre for having Mike as a guest blogger here.

Hey Andre and Mike.
Thanks for the MyBloglog info. I do have Google Analytics on my blogs but have not really utilized MyBloglog at all. I’ll have to look at it again and check out the $25 service they offer. It sounds like a great investment
