Boy, It Has Been A While…

Hello friends and readers. Boy, it has been a while since my last post. This has been an incredible last 10 days. No, not all good but then again not life threatening.

In my last post I was telling you about the incredible new Twitter tool I had started using. I was getting some fantastic results which I will be sharing soon.

But then, all hell broke loose. I started to have some problems with my computer. Gee, who hasn’t had that! But, I could not connect to the internet and when I did it would disconnect when I went to another page.

It was the most frustrating thing I have gone through. And I was not having any luck when talking to my computer maker. Don’t want to mention any names, DELL, but it was not an easy time. Everyone wanted to pass the buck. They did say I might have a virus.

My ISP could not find anything except to want to sell me another modem even though I got the original one from them. Again this nameless company, VERIZON, could not provide me with any help except to say it was not their fault.

And then my system crashed. And for anyone who has ever had that happen to them I have one reminder for you. BACKUP your files. I was a bit fortunate as I do backup my files. I did not quite save all of them but enough to keep me up and going.

So, after re-installing my operating system and drivers I am somewhat back at it again. Let my experience be a lesson to you. I know we hear it all the time, backup your files, keep your virus program up to date or get one and even get an external hard drive.

Well, I have done all of those and I will be more vigilant in protecting my files. After all and especially if you are running an internet business, your computer is your lifeline. Without it you have no business.

Again I have some good stuff to share with you about Twitter and some great stuff that has come out. Be on the look out for it because if you are using Twitter for your business this you will like.

I hope you all had a very enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend. It was a time to remember especially if you are or were in the military or if you have or had a loved one who served as well. Be Courteous When Others Retweet For You

Maybe you haven’t noticed but Twitter has become a phenomena in a short period of time. I talked a little about it in my last post. With 140 characters you can say a lot to everyone you want to communicate with.

If you think I am wrong just go to Twitter and see all the posting that is going on. But I want to tell you to be courteous when others retweet for you.

I bet you have often wondered what that RT is you see on some tweets you may get or see. That is a retweet, a resending of the information that you or someone else has sent out that their followers thought was worth sharing to others.

As you develop a following of people you will discover that they are really interested in what you have to say. So you want to give them some interesting information. You will know if they like it if you see an increase in followers or a decrease.

An easy way to keep them interested is to find good things and send it out to them. While you are reading all of the tweets you get each day there must be a few of them worth sharing.This is usually done with a retweet of someone else’s tweet that you might get or see.

So, if you are also sending out good information more than likely they are doing the same for you. This is where the courtesy comes in. It will be nice for you to send a thank you out to all of the people who may retweet your tweet. That will let them know that you appreciate what they have done. And that you are reading what they are saying as well.

It will also cause them to want to come back for more of what you have to say. And if they find you interesting when they retweet your tweet to their followers maybe the followers will do the same. It kind of gets viral in nature and your name will spread.

Now you should not expect that this will happen overnight but it will happen. And when it does it will explode your list of followers and you will be able to give them more information. Kind of funny how that works. Viral marketing at its finest.

Now that you are aware of this information don’t try to hide it. Share it with others and they will learn to be courteous to others who retweet their tweets. And they will spread it to their followers and … You get the point.

Are You On Twitter Yet?

Boy, it is amazing to see the increased interest in Twitter as of late. If you have been following the Internet Marketing trend, Twitter is hotter than the supposed spring we have had in the Mid-Atlantic.

It is very peculiar to see how one little site has stormed to the fore front in the internet marketing community. If you have not heard about Twitter on the news, in the newspaper or on the street, come out from under that rock.

Even the president is really into Twitter and if he can get away from his security forces long enough he might be sending you a tweet. What is a tweet you ask, well that is what they call that 140 character post you do on the site.

Now you would think that with just 140 characters what could you possibly be saying. Well, I will tell you to sign up for an account, it is free, and you will discover how much can be said with so little. Just go to Twitter.com and sign up.

I must warn you though, shh come closer, I don’t want a lot of people to hear this. It is soooo addicting. You could get so wrapped up tweeting to everyone that you can forget about food, your job, even your love ones. It is that addicting.

Okay also here is another secret. Are you ready for this? You can actually do business on Twitter. Yes, your business. If you have a particular niche market that you are in, undoubtably you will find like minded people who are also on Twitter. And it does not have to be an internet business. But remember we are not spamming, that is a no-no.

There are dog and cat lovers, gardeners, sports fanatics, golfers- a truly different breed from sports fanatics. I know because I am one. You will be amazed at the different groups that are represented on Twitter. And the scariest part is that it is still growing.

You could not find a hotter viral source runing loose around the world. Hell, it is even hotter than the Swine flu and it moves a lot faster. So, if you want to join the in crowd, boy am I aging myself, you had better get over and sign up. Remember it is free. Get your Twitter account now.

The Importance Of Traffic To Your Online Business

Because of the hard economic times of today, including the lack of jobs and the continuous layoffs from companies, even if you’ve worked at those companies for 10-20 years, many people look toward the Internet to help them make ends meet and even provide the financial independence they never could seem to get from their offline occupations.

Their thinking is that if they can establish their own online businesses, they will be the ones in charge and working toward making themselves financially independent, not someone else.  And being that many of the online “gurus” tell them that many people are doing it pretty easily, they think, “If they can do it, I can do it too!”

But many people don’t realize when they try to get started online that it is not as easy as many of the “gurus” say it is.  They don’t realize that you need a domain, dedicated web hosting, reliable autoresponders, and a product or service to sell.
